The next National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is Saturday October 28, 2023. The DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) has been conducting this initiative since 2010 to help provide a safe way for people to return unused or expired medications including opioids. The goal of these events is to help prevent misuse, diversion, and provide safe disposal of medications. To date the initiative has resulted in 17,300,454 pounds (8,650 tons) being collected and the April 2023 event collected a nation-wide weight of 663,725 pounds (332 tons) These are currently being hosted biannually in April and October. Save the date and remind others of this important upcoming event.
