Alabama Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Behavioral Health

axialHealthcare is actively seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for a rapidly growing Healthcare IT company. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Behavioral Health is fundamental in supporting our product line to enhance pain care and prescriptive behaviors.

 

What we are looking for:

Clinically trained pharmacist with passion to improve pain care and decrease opioid use, abuse and diversion.  Area of practice for Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will also be focused in Behavioral Health to assist providers and patients with behavioral health medication management and improve clinical outcomes as part of an interdisciplinary team.  Highly motivated with direct patient care experience in chronic pain and opioid use disorder management preferred. Background in mental health or psychiatry field work is preferred.  Must be able to evaluate complex patient cases and problem solve to improve patient outcomes and prescriptive behaviors. Perform outreach and education related to high risk patients and prescribers. Able to handle a fast-paced work environment with agility and flexibility to meet business needs. You will need to be a proactive self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a highly collaborative team. This position is full-time based in Alabama and provides competitive salary and benefits.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Discuss identified opioid related risks with prescribers to optimize the patients pain treatment and avoid adverse outcomes (e.g. abuse, misuse, diversion, overdose, and death)
  • Review and educate providers on Risk Identification and Mitigation (RIM) reports
  • Provide clinical resource for internal multifunctional teams such as analytics, operations, IT, business development, account management
  • Evaluates the clinical status of patients using appropriate psychiatric assessment tools
  • Perform drug utilization reviews on identified high risk patients
  • Support network provider inbound inquiries across product lines
  • Infuse subject matter expertise into analytics methodology and product development
  • Provide educational support to patients in pain
  • Develop prescriber, client, and patient education materials
  • Develop internal and external training materials
  • Deliver external training to prescribers and client training as needed
  • Contribute to QA and CQI processes
  • Mentor students and interns

 

Requirements

  • Doctorate of Pharmacy degree, or equivalent pharmacy degree
  • Active, unrestricted Alabama pharmacist license. Additional state pharmacy licensure may be required depending on state regulations
  • Must reside in Alabama, northern or central Alabama preferred

 

Preferred Experience

  • Completion of post-doctorate pharmacy practice residency
  • Direct patient care experience in chronic pain and opioid management
  • MTM experience
  • Behavioral Health experience including OUD/SUD direct patient care
  • Trained in motivational interviewing
  • Multidisciplinary team experience
